i scanned for channels but all im getting is foreign news and shop channels. was looking for bbc 1 and such hope someone can help

What Satellite are you trying to receive, may be your dish is not align against the correct dish.
Also were are you based, with more info members will be able to put you in the right direction.

im in the uk north east. im using a sky dish i cancelled it thought id try to use a freesat with it. i though it would be able to pick up them channel as sky could off the dish to

You should be able to pick up all channels from 28e at your location.
Go to (FLYSAT)web site and find the list for 28e, find the transponder for the FTA channels BBC 1 HD etc, make sure the your settings are correct and scan just one transponder and see what you get.

if im getting this right not to sure i am tho it says i need Astra 2E/2F/2G but the only ones on my scan list are astra 1c astra 1h/k/l astra 3b

astra 3b is on 23,5 east
others astra are 19,2 east ,
so you have to move a few degrees eastern
and question is , if you use motor or some type of lnb / twin , quad , multifeed /

its a sky dish that was put up last year when i got sky q in so i would need to move it to get them channels? sky box had them though it would be in the right place damn

It may be that when you set up your receiver, you may have used the sats that were set into the receiver ie 23e or 19e.
use the one at 28e.
The lnb that you may have could be one of the new type that sky use now for there receivers.
You may have to purchase a old type of lnb for your sky dish.
Go and visit a local satellite dealer in your area.
if you can fit a lead from the lnb to the receiver and then into a (portable tv) which you can (SEE) while playing with the dish and the remote in the other hand (making sure it is safe first)

I think that the leads from your Q lnb may be set up as V on one lead and H on the other, if that is the case try and do a scan on each lead.
1. Take one lead and do a scan and save and see what comes up making a note of what Polarisation is on that lead.
2. Then take the second lead and do the same again, using masking tape to mark what Polarisation is on each lead.
Here are some freq, 10803 H 22000 BBC ONE NORTH WEST / YORKSHIRE
10891 H 22000 ITV 1 TYNE TEES / YORKSHIRE WEST
10964 H 22000 CHANNEL 5
11023 H 23000 BBC 1 HD

10847 V 23000 BBC 1 HD
11097 V 23000 ITV HD
Let us know how the scans go, and if this is the case, members will get back to you on how to solve this.

most of them are coming up with no channels found one of the bbc find blomberg hd only

Bloomberg HD is on 11686 V 23000.
Did you try both leads !
What may be best is to get a local satellite installer to replace the Q LNB for a OLD TYPE sky LNB this may be better in the long run.

thats odd then i think it was 10847 V 23000 BBC 1 that i search only found that on.. yes i tried both cables one found a few the other nothing.. i think i must just be doing this all wrong

Have you still got the SKY box, if so you should be able to receive ALL the FTA channels with that receiver, plus the HD ones.

Try LNB settings like 9750/10600 , or 10600 and 22kHz "ON"
It maybe some kind of universal LNB or one that switches using 22kHz.

You could also try some of the DiSEqC switch setting in the DiSEqC 1.0
Try combinations of DiSEqC and 22kHz.

The next option after that is to play with the Unicable settings.

The new type of SKY Q box uses a NEW type of LNB, which you are unable to use with any other receiver.
To use your SKY dish to receive channels from 28e you MUST use a OLD TYPE of LNB.
