You know the procedure always works, you didn't do something right, it can also be done with a programming clamp directly to the EEPROM

The procedure with the described method does not work (No connection to the V8UHD board). I used several USB to RS232 adapters, none worked. RS232 cable does not work either. What should be the settings for the Com interface (RS232toRS232)? What signals are needed? DB9 Pin 1 -- T/R+ Pin 2 -- T/R- Pin 3 -- RXD+ Pin 4 -- RXD- Pin 5 -- GND There are several pictures of the Board of the V8HD, always with different connection designations. Which pin for which signal on the board? I'll keep trying :o
Is this pin interpretation correct?

No, on motherboard Yellow is TX and Black is RX
The DB9 connection is TR>TX and TX>TR on the motherboard.
If you do it using the color of the wires it would be a correct connection

There are new models that do not work via RS232 being necessary to do it for a programmed clip

I prepared the cable according to the instructions on the forum. V8UHD device is not communicating. What am I doing wrong ?
I also made a swap in the DB9 connector from pin 2->3 and 3->2, unfortunately also no communication ( according to suggestions on the forum). viewtopic.php?f=51&t=28037

How do I solve this problem ? The cable checked and there are no short circuits.

I want to get rid of MARS and go back to the original software.

Current configuration.
Red -> pin5 GND
White -> pin3 TXD
Black -> pin2 RXD

You have to change the position of pin 2 and pin 3 in db9
White -> pin2
Black -> pin3

I had issues with port numbers for USB RS232.

Here are my notes on that.

Owen

Edited June 11 2021:
Here are some more note on USB to RS232 serial devices.

Here is how I got this to work

I had plugged the USB to RS232 serial device into a USB port and it loaded the driver as port 14.
The GT Media recovery tool only allows for ports 1 to 9.

I use Windows 7, this may be different for Windows 10.
I opened "My computer" / Control panel / View devices and printers.
There I can see the serial device and the port number it is using, for me that was 14.
I then clicked on it and when to Hardware / Properties / Change settings / Drivers / Uninstall.
Then I plugged in the USB to RS232 to a different USB on the other side of the laptop and it reloaded the driver as port 4.

Then I could set the recovery tool for port 4 and V7Pro.

I then worked.

RS232 communication between V8X is correct (I tested on another device). Unfortunately, there is no communication on the V8UHD.

Cases are occurring on some motherboards the UHD 2007-1450 doesn't seem to work either, the one that I know works has no name, you must use the programmer clip

"you must use the programmer clip"

@!^&%!2@!982# ???????

Can you say more about this?

Tom.w 网站管理员 - Why aren't you replying to my Wechat messages ?

I don't know much about specialized programmers. If GTMedia produced this version of the motherboard that has RS232 programming problems then GTMedia must have had knowledge that it does not support RS232 programming and a specialized programming device is needed.

I wanted to abandon the MARS software, where this software does not allow programming to the original GTMedia firmware.

Where should I send back the V8UHD to get a good device due to a manufacturing defect ? - The inability to program via RS232.

If the issue is this mother board version 2007-1450, then there must be some hardware fault with that boards RS232 connection.

slawekkrupa if you have a test meter, volts and ohms test this.

Is the ground connection for the mother board connected to ground on the mother board.
Test for ohms between the ground pin and the LNB outer, should be zero ohms.
Check that the ground pin is not connected to a voltage, like 5 volts.
Things like this happened with the V7s units and its IR remote connection on early hardware.

Test 2. during communications is there any voltage on the coms pins?
The pin from your PC should show, does the pin from the mother board show a voltage spike during coms.

Have a look at the circuits of the mother board around the RS232 connector.
Are they correct and connecting to the pins?

The connections you already have on the RS232 cable are the ones to test with.
The ground pin on the RS232 cable compared to the ground of the V8 UHD, the best place is the outer ground of the LNB connection.
