USB Heating V7

Post by punk77 »

Hello
Recently I noticed a great heating in the USB input of the receiver (V7 HD).
The WiFi adapter is extremely hot...

This is normal for this receiver???

Hello and Welcome

It might be. Especially if watching HD channels. Make sure it is located in a ventilated area and/or add a ventilator close

Other users have added a fan to their V7HD.

Hello
I recently upgraded it to the last att. of 19/11!
I realized now that sometimes the receiver restarts itself.
I didn't do this before...

one of my rt5370 melted down because of heat! Used an USB extention after that if possibile. Or an USB-extension. Unfortunally it only works in single - cannot connect and USB-drive/harddrive and the wifi at same time - it will only reconize one device :( ???

Yes.
USB heating is a MAIN problem of this cheap receiver! I have 3 of them and bought them to friends too and it lasts like 1 year before I need to replace the USB entry.
Turn off the box when not in use.

You need a powered USB hub for it to work. The overheat is normal in these receivers.

I resolved the problem with USB extention cable, the wifi is the reason to overheat.

You can minimise that issue by use of a USB extension and place the box at a ventilated location.
