Can use an Android phone instead of an WIFI adapter as a USB modem?

You can use your phone as a WiFi hotspot.
This allows you to connect the WiFi adapter from the GT media V7 to the Internet. Your phone via USB to the receiver can not work, because the firmware is not designed for it.
Most Recivers I know have integrated in their firmware USB WiFi Adapters with mt7601 and rt5370 Chipset, to use applications such as YouTube, or other special applications.

With the GTMedia V7S HD, the integration with the two chipsets mt7601 and rt5370 is even listed in an early firmware release note
