Firmware Upgrade for Older V7

I have a V7HD Freesat receiver with Version 3.x firmware dated 2019, and the upgrade tool is not recognizing the ROM flash file GTMedia_V7HD_Release_V447_20211217.bin. Is there something else I need to do?

Why are you using the upgrade tool-ROM flash?? Have you try to update via USB??

Yes. Apologies. I was using "flash" to mean the USB upgrade process rather than actually using a ROM flash tool to flash the chip directly.

I know the USB port is working because the receiver *does* recognize the database backup file I created before attempting the upgrade.

Are you just updating using a V8 Super V_XXX.bin file(not the V8 Super V_XXX.zip)?

Or you trying the Flash.bin (flash.bin) process??

There is a Freesat V7HD and a GTMedia V7HD...confusing eh !!!!... the one you need is the Freesat bin... you will find the last version here viewtopic.php?f=39&t=7

Thanks. Where can I find a satellite/channel list for western North America? All I have at the moment is a bunch of satellites with footprints in Western Europe.

Check out the web site (lyngsat) it will have a list of satellites for your region.

Is the box region-locked? Is there an unlock code I need to use?

It may be that the user file you are trying to load is for a more modern unit with a newer user DB file format.
