GT Media Freesat V7 HD (P) Astra 2E

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help a noob here. We have lost all of the BBC channels due to BBC moving to Astra 2E. I'm using Astra 1H/K/L and satellite Astra 2E is not listed currently for this device. See model details below:

Model - Freesat V7 HD (P)
S/W Version - V3.02.121.698 23/03/2018
H/W Version - V2.1.0 27/02/2018

Please can someone advise if I can upgrade the firmware or Softcam (not sure what Softcam is) so that I can access Astra 2E?

This is an obsolete model. There is a 2019 FW available but no further update is expected

I updated the Firmware earlier but it did not make Astra 2E available.

I have however, managed to access the Astra 2E channels by manually adding the details to the device. It may be obsolete, but it works with no issues so no need for me to pay more for a current device. Hope this information helps someone else out there.

Obsolete does not means it still works fine. It may become obsolete because of a need of more memory for new options etc.

HI All,
Newbie awaiting delivery of V7 S5X and checking for all help on getting the UK Freesat Astra setup. Any help appreciated. Nix85 sent in his post that he had found a way round missing Astra UK from his V7. It would be extremely helpful if the solution was explained in a "steps taken to solve the issue" could also have been posted.which would be a great help to novices. ie; go to settings, goto satellite, type in XXXX, next go to channel, set xxx, etc etc. Help on setting favourite channels, getting the best stuff etc would be agreat help.

First of all welcome, can you tell us were you live, with the receiver that you have purchased, are you looking to setting it up as a single dish pointing to 28e for the Free to Air channels like BBC 1 / ITV / Great Movies etc, or will you be looking at other satellites.
With some more information we will be able to help you set things up etc.
