GTMedia V8X test results

V8x 27.5w (SATBACK CHANNELS)
With me receiving my new receiver, I set about to decode the said channels like I did with the V8 NOVA ORANGE.
I transferred the channel list from the V8 NOVA ORANGE and all the SOFTCAM keys.
Then sent the dish to 27.5w, (the channel cleared after switching the remote off / on) (BBC1 HD) (but there was NO SOUND), changed channel picture cleared again (NO SOUND).
Went through all channels (picture clears BUT NO SOUND)
Did a back-up of the (system data and channel) then using the db editor tried to amend a few details to try and get the sound.
At this point it is still a work in progress.
As soon as I can this to work, there will be a full guide put onto the forum.

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
If any member has any theories on how we may get sound against the channels at 27.5w will be very welcome

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
You will probably need to start from scratch. I have noticed that transferring the DB from the Nova bring some strange behaviors. Doing some factory reset and re-installing the firmware will help. I did the same to avoid the creation of the north america sat list and noticed some strange things. So went back and start from scratch and created a new list one by one. Now everything is working better.

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
Yes I too have had issues with transferring my channel list.
When I when from the Golden to the V8Pro2 the terrestrial channel listed first over top of a satellite's list.
STRETCH:
Try changing the audio output setting in the menu.
I had this with my feed of BBC with the V8Pro2.
The new software sets default to the other output setting.
Its an issue with AC3 sound.

Dishes; 3x3m, 2.4m and 4.1m, 10+ ku, 2 movers, USARLS. V8 Combo, Pro, V8 Golden, Nova V8Pro2, GTC, Super.V7HDs, Combo and V7s V7Plus Finder, Finder-Meter V8X / UHD V7Pro GT/XCombo. Sats 100.5E to 177W. I'm a Sat hobbyist who helps out.
Re: GTMedia V8X test results
Delete the satellite's all TPs and run BlindScan from the beginning.
I hope the situation improves.

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
I have carried out from the beginning what I did with the V8 NOVA ORANGE.
Put in three channels to see if it will work, WORKS FINE,
WILL GIVE A FULL UP DATE WHEN I HAVE COMPLETED ALL CHANNELS.
Thanks for all the inputs.

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
The unit I brought and shipped via DHL from Aliexpress arrived in the same time as Aliexpress standard shipping stuff my friend brought.
At least both shippings worked, unlike the one that is still stuck in China since 28 April.
First it is much the same as the V8 Pro2 software, but!!! the menus are black background and much clearer.
This is a much better look.
The channel list from the V8Pro2 sort of loaded, but the channels names were cut off at the start.
Likely a fault of the DVB-T content.
Channel names look to be limited to 15 letters again.
Edited
USALS motor controls did not work.
I was fooled by the dish already being on the only sat I set.
I am having the same issue as I have with the V8Pro2
DiSEqC 1.1 and cascade switching to DiSEqC 1.0 works fine, but looks like it is still sent twice even with repeat sending "Off" in the menu.
It auto rolled the powervu channels off Intelsat19C OK
Limited testing so far.
Software bugs:
1:
When you press OK to bring up the channel list the picture and sound are cut.
The background stays black until the DiSEqC switch commands are sent again and the picture restored.
There is a short moment when "No Signal" is displayed.
Pressing SAT or FAV to bring up those lists does not do this.
This happened in both the earlier software and the May update.
This is a big one and needs urgent fixing.
2:
The encryption type is displayed after you FIRST scan the channels, Iderto Biss etc. Powervu is not affected.
After you scan the same TP or the same satellite the encryption type in never displayed again.
This fault is also in the older units.
I will do some tests with user files to see what changes after the second scan.
Sadly my local multistream channels have faded away again and I can not test with them.
I need to align a dish to Asiasat5@100.5e to find new BISS feeds to test the auto roll biss.
I am not likely to see any BISS sports feed here for a while.
I wait for the same update for the V8 Pro2, DVB-S + DVB-T unit with this new look.

Thanks for the accurate review.
I also support you 100%.
Requests termination of unnecessary DiseqC command calls!
Quickly identify V8 Pro2 and V8X issues Owen pointed out, I strongly hope for improvement.
Thanks in advance,
Re: GTMedia V8X test results
No idea who came out with the idea of posting test results in the open forum. I was under the impression that Beta testers results should be addressed to Lining. Thats what I have being doing. Only Beta testers.

Today I auto rolled a BISS feed, a new code never before seen.
I took a while longer than the other reports, but my internet does drop out a lot.
I think it was around 15 minutes.

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
Would love to test but have yet to receive the receiver to beta test after almost a month and a half, oh well, maybe all the bugs will be taken care of by the time it arrives, that is if it ever does....
Re: GTMedia V8X test results
Yes the V8X GT Media sent me is also sitting in China since April28.
The one I have I brought from Aliexpress via DHL Express.
Aliexpress standard shipping is also getting to me in the usual 10-12 days.

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
I should have shipped mine via the USA I would have it by now. May be 6 months before I get mine.
Re: GTMedia V8X test results

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
Mine took a month to go from the factory to Guangzhou (International airport) and finally got on an aircraft June 1st. My biggest problem is yet to come, if your tracking number starts with the letter "L" it is considered ordinary mail and is not trackable after landing in the destination country, where I live that means at least another month if lucky and regular trips to the post office to see if it has arrived. The worst outcome is it will disappear altogether.
No live links (Rule #18) highlight the URL and use the Code tag option "</>"

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
I just received my decoder for testing. First question. Can i upload channel list from v8nova Orange?
Remote control looks OK, because the one from V8 Orange was terrible.

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
Yes, you can, remember to rename it for the V8x.
I did mine, BUT when I had a look at with the db editor, I found that the first few letters of the channel was missing, which took a while to amend.
To give the new receiver a better review, for the likes of (lining / alex.c) so that they can iron out all the bugs in the software etc, would be to start from scratch.

Re: GTMedia V8X test results
Beside missing the first letters of all the channels as mentioned by STRETCH you will notice a strange behavior, so I will not recommend to do it. Original firmware release should include some european/asia sats. If in America there is already a sat DB list posted:przeeemek1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 3:41 pmI just received my decoder for testing. First question. Can i upload channel list from v8nova Orange?

My mistake. I am ashamed. You can import a list of channels from v8nova, but channel names are "cut" from the first two characters.
