hello
please backup your flash.bin file,then help me try to do factory reset,then select some satellite,do blind scan, how about the result?
if it is ok,please send the backup flash.bin to us, we will check it.
if it is not ok, please confirm that when the issue is happened, which transponder is doing scan?then try to do manual search this tp, how about it?

Does this reboot happen as the scan changes from H to V polarity?

Are you using a motor dish or fixed?

If you do a scan with the LNB cable disconnected, does the unit still reboot?

Re the UP9

You need to do a forced recovery of the unit.



Here are my notes on flash.bin.

flash.bin recovery is done like this.

Place a copy of the unpacked software (the .bin file) on a USB stick and rename it "flash.bin"
With the USB in the unit, power on while repeat pressing "Menu" on the remote.
The unit should reload the software.

Also other users say that you must use a USB stick, not a card holder etc and that stick must be 32Gb or under.
Use the rear USB port on units that have two ports.

I have had units that will not recover.
Try using the same software as was in the unit when it crashed, not the new update software.
You must use the correct software, ie that for the V7HD for the V7HD etc, not software for any other freesat units.

Try even older software as the file for flash.bin.

Look at the LED in the USB stick. When the TV shows the message "USB Upgrade, do not turn off" you should see the LED on the USB flash as the file is loaded.
The USB LED should also flash a few times as the unit first powers on and looks at it.
Also users have said to use the rear USB port for this on V8 units.

New information: Users are reporting that naming the file "Flash.bin" with a capital has worked where "flash.bin" has not. This is with the Nova units mostly.

I found that a USB stick with a lot (more than 30+) .bin files on it, my UHD unit would not show the new software file in the menus.
This suggests that having too many .bin files on the USB stick can also be a problem.
I moved most of the file into a folder and it then showed the file.
Keep only one or two files in the main directory.

When you power on, press and release then press again the menu button, this is repeatedly.
Continuous is press and hold down, that does not work with some remotes.

I think the UHD needs just the file as it is named. That is what is said in the instruction.
Note my comment on the UHD and not having too many files on the USB stick.

Note also that after a factory reset / software update and in the UP9 screen, the AV output is PAL format.

You don't have to rename the .zip file, you have to extract the .bin file from the zip and use it as it is for the update.

I put and as it is........(GTMedia_V8UHD_V224-V231...) and renamed one by one bin....(Flach.bin) ..... and older Firmware and a new!!!!!.......... but ERRI ..... UP9
What else can I do?

when the box is booting, Please press the menu key multiple times，it will be entered force upgrade menu,then plug your usb device, select the flash.bin which you want to upgrade.
if it still does not work,please tell us, and post a photo of the TV display

regard your remote, if you look at the IR LED in the remote through a digital camera you should see it flashing if the remote is working.

Regard video output while in UP9, all GT Media units go to PAL TV format in factory mode. Does your TV show PAL?

Regard the RS232 cable. my instructions for making one are here.

Check that the port number is the one that your RS232 cable is connected to.
You have the default port 4 set.

I added comment on how to check this on windows at the bottom of my finder RS232 instruction.

Also you may need to swap the receive and transmit wires like using a null modem cable.

What port number did you find your PC / laptop was using?

Did you try the blind software upgrade as I had listed in this post?

Re any order number etc, contact GT Media on their service email on their www freesat .cc site.
