Black screen problem GTMedia V8 Nova Orange

Hello,
Can anyone advise for a problem on the GTMedia V8 Nova Orange.
It was bought and working fine since November 2020 (apart from Youtube).
Since few weeks (July 2021), upon switching on, the screen remains blank / black, and box displaying: "L096".
Maybe it's an error code?
No button from remote control can access anything, and thus neither the menus can be accessed.

Thus I cannot upgrade the firmware, as I need access to the menus.
Else can it be done via USB flash directly, that is booting & re-installing from an updated firmware from USB directly?
I saw on a post it need to be connected to a PC to flash it, but it would be complex as such.

Much grateful for an advise and solution please.

Hello,
Despite the exact steps, yet the device is not upgrading.
Several times tried. At start the screen displays upgrading etc, and not to close.
So it seems as it is upgrading. But then it goes blank/black as previously.
On the display of the device itself, it would show as some codes, till "L096". And it would stop there. And screen would also remain blank/black.
Done several times, through a USB, but it does not upgrade.
Kindly advise accordingly please.

Try using older versions of the software.

I had the same problem with the latest upgrade. I hadn't upgraded since two or three versions ago and tried to skip them. Turns out I had to put the last working version back on the box, then upgrade to each version in order as in the download section. No problems on the latest upgrade after that.

The links for downloads of 2019 are not English setup though.
Hope it can work fine though, after the upgrade on it of the 2021 versions..

Following the steps recommended, using previous / old versions, then installing each new versions one by one, it works finally !
from the manual on forum it was mentioned to press "continuously” though on the remote control so as to enter the mode upon start. But it is NOT “continuously”, but should be “REPEATEDLY” !

Using “continuously” wasted several weeks, trying to figure out the issue..

6. V7 V8 USB forced upgrade：：：
6.1. Connect the power, and press “MENU” continuously with the remote control.
Note: Press the button continuously.
6.2.Digital tube shows UP9，，，After releasing the MENU button, enter the upgrade mode

GT Media please change this instruction to read "repeatedly"
The other instruction in the Forced Recovery page may also need changing.

Some of the remotes do not repeat send the IR instruction if you just hold down the button, you need to release and press again to make a repeated IR signal to send.

I wonder if this is why so many users have problems getting a recovery to work?
