Galaxy 14 125 W. TP 4080

Post by knotyew »

I am getting a 70% signal and 0% quality on Galaxy 14 125 W. TP 4080, I had to replace my LNBF just to get a non-pixelated picture on FTA TP's. Is anyone else have any problems with Galaxy 14 125W?

Thanks for the info, I too am in AZ, all I can figure is that my equipment is failing in some way.

Are you running your LNB's through a DiSEqC switch?
If you shorted the LNB cable through the switch when changed your LNB it is likely now shorted "ON" full time.
I always change cables / LNB's with the LNB power OFF to avoid this.
A shorted switch will send two LNB's to the set top box at once and some signals will interfere.

Try connecting the satellite one dish at time to check it is not losses etc from your switch.

No I am not using a switch, I always turn off the receiver when I make a change. When I turned on my system this morning all I got was pixelating video and chattering audio on TP 4080 125 west, as the day progressed now all the sats in my list and all channels are doing the same thing, even FTA channels are looking scrambled. My update I just now did had no effect on the reception.

Sounds to me like your satellite dish is out of alignment. Usually when all the channel's start breaking up it is best to start with dish first then follow from lnb, coax, connector's, back to receiver.

Thank you for the reply,.....Yes I checked that too, but what I really need to know is how to input my wifi password, I can't remember how I did it last time...

Network settings and then wifi set up.

Also check that a spider has not started living in you LNB if the cover is cracked.
Check you cable connections too. Rust on the center, loose around the outer etc.
Did a neighbor start a new wifi in line with your dish?

If you have one try another power supply.

OK my internet is back up, using my BSC 421 LNB, transponder 4080 is at 78% signal and 72% quality but no audio or video. 4120 is up and at 72% but most of the time the quality is unstable, bouncing from 10% to 74%, 3900 and 3960 are bouncing up and down but watchable. Installed a Titanium Satellite C1W-PLL which used to work, but now absolutely no signal. I have had my dish and mover for 15 years and never had this happen before, even when I was using my V7 Max, Coolsat and Viewsat receivers, coax is in good condition, no rust or corrosion. Power supply is a 1.5 amp 12vdc.Thanks for the input...

Perhaps you are getting 5 G interference?

There is definitely something happing on the transponders you have listed as I have problems with them also occasionally. For me its not a lack of signal lately but I did have that problem with a dual Titanium lnb (since replaced) but I am having glitches. For example the Syfy Channel will only work for a period of time before it locks up the receiver. It seems for me to be related to the PV decoder not working correctly for these channels.

Lineman,
I finally got 4080 to come in but all HD channels were so pixelated and audio was a mess, but the USA SD Channel came in with wide green lines and lavender splotches. 125 west has the most problems and the rest on my sat list is tolerable but still a slight mess. I am using my ole BSC 421 LNB and am looking for something newer and not really into another Titanium C series.

There are reports of an excellent LNB with very good signal at alixpress. LNB is red or orange color. Will try to get link for.

Here is the link

Thanks for the info Cpr43, It can't be shipped to the US, Mexico in fine though. What I have found is that 5G could be the problem, and there is an LNBF with a 5G Filter to cut back on the interference that I will be looking into. Things have calmed down some on my system using my old BSC 421 but 125 West is still a little problematic, the Titanium Satellite C1W-PLL has become a paper weight.

Update, 23 hours spent on realigning my dish, azimuth 6 times, elevation 15 times, declination 16 times, using a digital and old style angle finders, it truly is amazing the difference between the degree readout of the instruments. I went through 3 different LNBF's and realigning them in different orientations both H and V, resetting the FD on the body of the LNBF between 38 and 40 and still I have the pixelated video and the chattering audio. My scanned sats are from 133 w to 101 w, 10 sats total. The only clear sat is Gal 15 133w most of the time, the rest sort of work at night, up until the sun starts the new day and then all goes down again except 133w Gal 15...go figure. The UHD channel at NASA now causes my V8 UHD to shut down and then reboot. It looks to me like there is a non functioning description problem or a corrupted file in my receiver. I have never had experienced anything like this before. I tried the latest firmware upgrade and no change. Any thought on this situation?

These V8 units crash when they get too busy trying to correct a weak signal and a 4k weak signal will have a lot of data to sort and correct. I think the unit uses too much memory and over writes some critical part and crashes / re boots.

Have you sent your motor dish to a satellite using the USALS and then switch to DiSEqC motor control and step move the motor a little to see if you get a better signal?
Another way is to change your longitude while in USALS a little, like from 98.4w to 98.6w as that will also move the dish a little.

Does your V7Max get a better signal? I have found the UHD satellite receiver is weaker than most other GT Media units.

As for the sun thing, it may be the heat changing the shape of your dish or changing the noise levels by heat in the LNB.
I have shaded one of my LNB's.
It could also be heat changing the dish mount a little too.
I sprayed one dish with the garden hose one day to check, for me that did not change much.

As it is the most west sat that stays the best, 133w, it may be your mount is tilting forward or back.
Moving the motor only moves sideways.

Finally I got my picture and sound back in the clear, after getting a new linear actuator, and 2 more lnbf's, which didn't help, I got a Titanium Satellite C138 LNBF with 5G filter and all is well... I Thanks all who responded to the problem. :D

iq180 That's a nice trick, I found that when I cocked the LNBF in the scalar ring as far as it could go at an angle, I could get some transponders in the clear, but the ones I watched the most were gone, so I broke down and got the new LNBF, just to get back to watching tv again.
