New Update V8X Mars V.4777-Test

I tried to update V.4777 by USB from actual V.4739 but after the 100% completed process when I checked about STB it still remains on V.4739. I tried factory Reset and re-install with the same result. The only way I was able to update (V.4777) from V.4739 was using the RS232 cable and the Send_Upg V2.2 program on my computer.

I tested if the set data (WiFi, Time, TV Mode etc) was kept or save after the installation. I turn Off and also unplug and plug back from power and the data was save. Weather option from (Celsius to Fahrenheit) is always revert back to Celsius thou. Good Updated!!

Maybe others with V8X H/W not ending on 4 can test and report if they can update by USB.

Here is North America Satellites Database for V8X MARS for NA users. This is C and ku Band from 15west to 135west. DB and Softcam keys need to be entered by the USB option on the main menu. Go there look for your file or DB and hit OK. Also, the AutoBiss work fine

Me sucede lo mismo tengo la versión 4739 y cuando paso al 4777 realiza todo el proceso correctamente mediante USB pero me voy a comprobar si se ha instalado la actualización y veo que sigue la versión 4739.

Si me pueden ayudar lo agradecería.

I was able to update to the new v.4777 Mars firmware on my V8X. I checked the H/W version which showed as 1.0 but after upgrade it showed as 1.04 in system info. I was on 02/22 firmware.

I was then able to update the satellite list with yours without any problems - except that I cannot figure out how to modify the satellite position number in the motor settings. They are all position 1. Where is the position modifier?

First of all, Thank you for the North American Satellite Database. Now I am on the fence wondering if I should upgrade or not. What benefit would there be aside from a very nice looking UI? Is there more support for North American Channels? Can I buy this cable from Amazon to do the upgrade?

I guess this will soon give you access to a pay server via CCcam similar to Gshare, Forever or Scam+ with access to many sats worldwide. The actual GTMedia Serial Number can not be used for such purpose. Updating to this will make possible to created a new S/N for that purpose which can be later match to the server. At the moment is just working with Astra 19.2°E with future expansion to others including America Arc (A F N in the look)

Click on he motor setting (USAlS or DiSEqC) in the antenna settings menu and you go to the next menu.
Remember that the position number is changed in the motor AND the V8X, so check you are on the position with the dish before "Save". If the dish is in a different position and you press save it will save that position to the motor as well. Use the move to position button first and check.
If you know your position numbers, maybe change and save them in the motor menu with the LNB cable disconnected so they do not change in the mover motor too.

I know about the Motor menu, but position number assignment is nowhere I can find.
The options are :

Move Auto W/E
Move West-East
Fine Tuning
Store Position
Go to position
Go to Reference
Set West Limit
Set East Limit
Disable Limit

There should be a option above the first move option.
You should be able to change it with the left right arrows.

No, there is no option above Move Auto W/E and there is no way to change position values from anything in the list.

Are you using a Diseqc motor? How did you change the position values?

I will update my unit today and test this DiSEqC position function issue and report bac later.

I would have tested earlier, but it is planting time, despite the 10mm of snow yesterday morning.

I have restored the original firmware back to my V8X to be able to use it, but saved a backup of the Mars config.
My bug / feature report is:

- Missing motor position option
- Missing Bitstream / PCM audio option

On go to position, press the number you want to go to and then OK and it will move to that position.

The same for store position, press the numbers and then OK.

All done blind but does work.

The problem is that 6 can not be entered as any 6 pressed is used for 6666 for the key edit hidden menu.
Even setting the longitude for a added sat you can not use the 6 button.

I also did not have the scanned satellite and other changes lost after power off at the switch on the back.
BUT first I did a power to standby on the remote.
Maybe that helps not loose any changes.

Blind scanning on my dish network is very poor, not finding many or all the channels. More testing to do.

I have another brand of box with the same look of menus that also does this.

To add channels to favorites from more than one satellite I found I needed to use the sat button to change satellites WHILE in the favorites add menu to make channels from another satellite show on the same "News" favorites list.
Add channels on one sat to "News" favorite. Exit. Change satellite to another channel, back to the favorites add menu and those adds will only show if you press favorite from that satellite.
It behaves like you can make a favorites list for each satellite, not just one list of that name.
More testing on this.

Happens on most V7, V8 and V9 models
To avoid this, TP lists are used, the biggest problem is in the community ones that have a frequency of Vertical repeated in Horizontal

In case of a community system antenna (FI vertical) the best option to solve this problem is a correct configuration on installation menu of the LNB.
For Spain community systems LNB power must be OFF and LNB type 09750.

For community systems LNB power must be ON, the device has a regulator that will only have Voltage and not Current, if it is OFF in this way you disable the short-circuit detector, which indicates a defect in the installation.

Podrias decirme como hacer copia del firmware de mars con mi configuracion de canales escaneados he encontrado una opcion en canales para guardar datos pero esta en formato dvr y no se si es correcto pero como haces para guardar copia de seguridad de todo el firmware para pasarlo a otro v8x gracias.

Muchas gracias por responder tan pronto ya me he dado cuenta que la flecha arriba me cambia los menus y me da acceso a otras opciones pero no encuento la de volcado a usb que tenia en el anterior firmware podrias ser mas concreto y decirme si es en ajustes o indicarme el camino en el menu para poder guardar copia del firmware gracias.
