Purchased another V8X receiver, just to have the (Mars) software on it, to see what it is like just as a basic satellite receiver.
First thing, that i did after loading the above software, was to get the satellites into a good order, ie. 45e to 30w, and deleted the satellites that are not in my acre, with a 100cm dish.
Then set about putting in the USALS details for my area, and country. (did not but the city in).
Using the transponders within the data base, started to scan each satellite in turn, against (scrambled/FTA)(then delete channels at a later date) just to set the satellites up, to the data base.
Got as far as 5w, just to confirm that these channels were clearing, i checked (Cherie 25 12648v 29500) which cleared OK.
Then went onto the next satellite, 7w, the receiver did not find any channels, (but i do know that channels can be found with the V8X V319) the sensitivity, with the (Mars) software is a bit LOW.
With the receiver not finding any channels, it went back to 5w, and went to the first channel on the channel list, and NOT the last channel viewed.
Went to that channel (Cherie 25 12648v 29500), what came to the screen was (No Service) and (No Signal), signal wise was strength 80% / quality going between 0% and 83%, while on a V8X V319, I would get S95% / Q85%, also a good signal on another well known receiver, so i know that the set up is good.
I then checked 15w / 27.5w / 30w, did not find any channels.
Again the receiver went back to 5w, at this point, i switched the receiver off, switched the receiver back on put the USALS details back in, then sent the dish to 30w, using (All Channels) found channels this time, again when viewing a (Abertis) channel the would freeze for a millie second, other receivers no issue.
I then went to 27.5w to scan in the BBC SAT BACK channels, under (All Channels) BUT the said channels scanned in as (Radio) channels.
Since i started this early today, i have now found a new update V4898, unable to load via USB in the normal way, awaiting a rs232 cable.
Until that arrives, cannot do much, the GTMedia have got a lot to do.

It is only possible from version 4777
Re: V8X MARS V4852 9 SEPT 2022
It would be good if the USALS details are kept, even when the receiver is switch off or when the channel list is imported back into the receiver.
It would be great to get any upgrade/ downgrade to be done via the USB, seeing as this receiver has been on the market for a while, and every user
likes it that way, or if it can be done (OTA).
I have tried all ways to update the software to V4898, with the USB, goes through all the actions but just stays the same, also using the tool on the forum, no luck, power on/off again no luck., at what point do you power off/on with the receiver to take the new software.
Is there any were with a step by step guide on how to do this

You can update from version 4852, you need the remote control V7
