What Firmware Version do I have ?

I don't know the difference between Mars or Pluto but these numbers don't correlate with the numbers in the download section for this model ??

So what software am I running and what's with the [P] after the model name ?

You have version 224, you can put Mars 238 or 5593 with a better graphic environment

From what i have read , so far , if you live in N.A. there is no advantage to switch over to MARS yet .

I have two V8X 's running on the Non- Mars firmware and they work just fine

i sure wish instead of developing Mars they would have spent time and resources on decrypting other systems

That's what I thought.

But I think you wish for too much as far as them decrypting other systems - that is wholly and totally beyond their control.

They didn't find the solution to Powervu or Biss and won't find one to Conax, Irdeto or Nagra3 if the solution is not already either in the public sphere.

Hard to say. What are the major differences ?

I can say I'm really only interested in satellite, not iptv or youtube or apps for that matter I have other devices for those things. It's my belief that any STB that tries to do many things will do none of them well.

Ok can you USB "upgrade" or force "upgrade" from 238 downwards as long as you're not on MARS ?

Also I found a link here to a download for a north american satellite list but it is password protected! Can anyone point me to another one ?

It will be better for now just to update from 224 to 238 and not move to Mars. You will be fine. As far as North America DB post the link you mentioned to see if is one that I do have the pass for.

That's what I was looking for, a north american satellite list.

Thanks for posting the v238 file but I've already upgraded to that.
