Hi Folks,
Direct south for me is 80 deg.
Closest south sat is 87w. Farthest west is 133w.
I set Elevation for max strength on 87w.
I set Declination for max strength on 133w.
I go back and forth until no noticeable change is req'd on either.
Now I go to 103w, and it needs peaking.
What is best? Adjust Declination then go to 87w for elevation?
-or- Adjust Elevation then go to 133w for declination?
Definitely needs fine tuning on 103w.
58w, the signal is way off, (no signal unless major declination change) yet my pole shows perfectly level and plumb.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Fine Tuning Big Ugly Dish
Remember that North/South should be the real North/South and not Magnetic. Also, the complete polar base should be set and all screws tied to the true South. Set your elevation and declination based on your location. Later, you move your dish with the mover/ actuator to 87w (not the base which will remains to true South) Peak 87w and do the rest. Try going to the farthest East instead of west for declination peakIvn101 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 8:26 pmHi Folks,

Use Dishpointer-com and a laptop, that way you can zoom in on your location and find true south and all other settings you need.Ivn101 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 8:26 pmHi Folks,

yes, true south is the key.
you can calculate it here:
there is also an app for your phone; pretty accurate.
there is also a guide for Dish Installation here:
