Most of the keys are built within the software, powervu, biss wise you will need to connected to the web.

I have a V7S HD receiver that is not connected to the internet if I connect it are there any setting I need to change to get it to find the codes? Can a softcam.key file be used instead of connecting to the internet?

When you connect to the web, you do not need to change any settings.
To find various codes biss, powervu etc, you may have to go to various web sites, to find the keys of the channels you can receive in your area.
