This is what a powervu code looks like in the "softcam.key' file.
P 0000 00 9774D1CFC96E71;1660:04061:26589:H ;
P 0000 01 C9B04900056620;1660:04061:26589:H ;

The CAID is done by the unit.
The provider is often 0000
idx is "00" for the first line of code and idx is "01" for the second line of code.
Each powervu code has Two lines, like the one above.

In the key data you enter like this 9774D1CFC96E71;1660:04061:26589:H (Your code provider (1660) and frequency and SR and Polarity).
Note the use of semi colon ";" and full colon ":". The last ";" is not entered, that is added to a softcam.key file only.

People are reporting the latest version of software is not saving entered codes after power off.
The easy way to add codes is via "softcam.key" file.

If you "Export" from the conditional access menu (color buttons at the bottom of the screen) you will find a "softcam.key" file on your USB stick.
Open this with Notepad on your computer and add the powervu lines of code you need and "Import" the file back into your V8.

You will see codes after a line; #*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*# Auto ECM Key #*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#
These are the codes the unit has found for you.
Watch that you don't get double copies of codes as you export and import these found codes.

You can add comments after the last ";" to help you manage the file like this.
This is the format for BISS and Tandberg in your softcam.key file.
T 0A26 01 074F7582F29F1E5A; ;
T 0001 01 7D09ACF95D9B21FC; ;
B 0001 3953:6100:V FB4C72B93A40C43E ; SCTV
B 0002 3953:6100:V E65AD414DB2D3F47 ; Indosiar
B 0003 3953:6100:V 6423A128C5CF2BBF ; O Channel

T is tandberg and B is biss code.

That key should auto load.
change to that channel and wait a minute and it should load.

Here is my softcam.key file for the sats I get from Asiasat5 to NSS9
There is some double up of codes at the bottom as I mentioned.

The advantage of loading the file is that you don't have to wait for the unit to "Auto Find" each code, now or after a software update.
CNN HLN etc does not auto load so this will get you that too.

Good luck and start a favorites list now that you have TOO many channels to choose from.

The V8 should find the key for powervu if you are watching that channel.
The latest software did not find the key for CNN on I19C@166e. It still works though if you import the key via USB softcam.key file.

The powervu channels on I8@169e don't find keys. I think these channels are changing the code every minute.
It looks like the V8 has found the key and then :Encrypted" returns.
I set up both a V8 and a V7 and both units did this at the same time. "Encrypted" went off for a moment on both units then returned.
I think the code file for these channels would be a list of many codes.

The V8 does find the key for the channels on I18c@180e.
On NSS9@177w the V8 finds the keys, but these keys also seam to be changing and the V8 has to find new keys when you change to those channels.

You need to un-zip the file first and load the softcam.key file on your USB stick.

Sometime when the freesat units scan, they scan channels that are "$" and list them as being FTA.
If this has happened you need to scan that TP again to get the "$" on that channel for the unit to know to look for keys etc.

Where are you in the world?

If I buy this receiver -
Gtmedia V8 UHD DVB-S2 satellite receiver DVB-S/S2/S2X DVB+T/T2/ISDB-T/Cable(J83.A/C)/ATSC-C(J83.B) Better V8 pro2 V8 NOVA

I've read here about adding Powervu keys, what would adding those keys allow the receiver to do?

will the keys unlock the channels?
can other keys be added for like N4gr4vision or videoguard?

Does D1sh N3twork own Orb1?

Thanks,
Viewer

Latest models are V8UHD and V8X. No need to add keys if using latest files. All keys are hide inside the firmware. Yes, it will decode ONLY Powerv, biss or Tandberg.

Are you adding ECMs 00 and 01 or EMMs??? using RC or Softcam file?? Some new models are running out of space thus new added keys are not kept or save. Try deleting some old keys
