GT Media V8 new version and ceiling 85% quality

Post by Talkhadov »

Found that the device above 85% of the quality does not catch on antennas of any diameter.
Compared with another device, where one and the same transponders, depending on the diameter of the antenna show a higher signal.

Correct this bug, because it is not possible to configure the antenna with this limitation ....

The V8 and almost all STBs will not give good results when trying to tune your antenna with a strong signal, the AGC (automatic gain control) takes over and gives a flat response to signal changes. Most people use a strong transponder to find the satellite and then use a weak transponder (Q = 50-60) to fine tune the antenna. I don't think it is a problem with the V8.

It is not comfortable. On other devices, this is not the case.
There, any transponder can be configured to a maximum of up to 95-100%

The reported signal levels on the finder are low compared with other units.

The signal reported is relative in the unit to other TP's.
For the final signal tuning I use the video signal itself to get the best dish alignment.
If you do want to use the level, choose a weaker TP on the same satellite.

I need to configure 31.5e, there are only strong transponders. The satellite is needed to configure the polar antenna. As far as the emphasis goes at 85%, I don’t understand how hollow the zero southern satellite is tuned.
Therefore, correct this matter and increase the readings of the device to the maximum value please.

@bsonlyone
Professional installer will use professional equipment.
Professional meter cost more than £1000 (some can be more than £3000). This meter cost only £60
This is hobby device for hobby price. You want £1000 functions for £60 price? :lol: :lol:

@Talkhadov
I agree that it should show more than 85%. Hopefully they will fix this soon.
Until it is fixed maybe you can try to tape something in front of the LNB to reduce the signal strength?
