V8 Finder Pro first test

After receiving of the V8 Finder pro here are my first impressions:

1- Motor option USALS works Perfect!! Move the motor fine and scan perfect.!

CAS (System Settings-6666) works excellent and keys are within the firmware. Biss channels will require the USB device and be internet connected to open.

2- GTmedia Remote Controls does NOT work with the finder. No IR. RC will be easy to navigate thru screens once channels are scanned.

3- USB Upgrade does NOT included DUMP of all flash-DB or satellite list.

4- Internal Wi-Fi device is missing so an USB wifi device is needed. Finder has only 1 USB connector. if using Wifi device there is NO room to install updates by USB unless the Wifi device is removed.

5- Scanning options for TP search and Blindscan. No Auto Search option

6- I like when you hit Info screen twice!! BER-PWR and SNR. Very Excellent (see picture)

7- Did not scan any T2-MI channels.

8- I found problem opening 1 UHD channel. Picture is blurring on Starone C1 65.0 west. (See picture)

9- DVB-S2X H.265 signal channels with SR49000 on SES 11 67.0 west scan fine!

Results were sent to GTmedia for evaluation. Overall is a pretty good unit which work fluently. The more detail INFO screen will greatly help to aim dishes which is the main purpose. Spectrum and Calculate (Azimuth/Inclination/Declination) options are great tools for Dish aiming. Creating a North America satellite list DB will need to be done inside the unit using RC with the lack of the DB dump feature. Like mention a great unit with a lot of great features.

Also,

-satellite list should be sorted in orbital order when showing satellite list.
-And when going to the satellite list it should open in the sat you are in so you can do the blindscan. It goes to the first satellite in the list. Scrolling down looking for the sat to scan keep messing moving USALS dish around until you reach the sat

Good to know it works both with a HUB.

I think the reason it does not have built in wifi is that would interfere with satellite scans etc.
It occurs to me that USB hardware normally has two ports. It is likely there is another USB circuit connection on the circuit board.

Delirium have you walked around with the wifi on searching for wifi?
The V8 Finder Pro shows the source AND the printers, TV's etc.
I could see all my neighbor's power meter wifi's.

This would likely allow a security breach as you can try to log onto TV's etc and piggy back out through secure wifi that way.

I've bought one and I can test it with Astra 19.2ºE and HotBird 13.0ºE. Also I can test dvb-t here in Spain.

Does any other wifi usb than gtmedia work?

Most GT Media units have a chip set that they work with for the wifi.

One user reports:
This box just Support RT5370 chip

Post from other users.
A dongle with Ralink rt 5370 will work.
The MT7601 chipset is also suitable. A good program to find out the chipset is HWiNFO32.

Mine doesn’t show both BER-PWR and SNR info screen.

What does it mean? CN an MER numbers?

It’s on last firmware V3.2.88.9.307 (released on 18/01/2022)

Owen,

I got my RT5370 Wi-Fi dongle and connect to device. So, where can I see the power of those Wi-Fi routers? I just see the bars, without any power meter…

You can see all the Wifi signals there.

I see my local power meters as I am in a rural area and NZ power companies use smart meters and Wifi.
I do not see these things in the city.
I sometimes also see things like "Lounge Tv". This is the TV's transmission. It may be because Chromecast is active on that TV.

Different countries power networks may use other systems.

Oh! I got it!

I thought I could see dB power meter and channel.

Thank’s!
