V8 Finder Pro WiFi

Post by Feralkiwi »

Hi All

I just tested the WiFi on the new Finder Pro.
I am using a Skybox wifi adapter that works well on all GT Media and has a 3 inch long antenna.

All works well as designed, youtube, BISS auto roll etc.

The interesting one is this.
I walk around and keep pressing the red button to refresh the WiFi networks it can see.
I live rural, so only see my own WiFi, and not the 5G part, as the dongle is older.

While under the local over head power lines I can see all the Wifi's from my neighbors power meters.
This is something that a cell phone will not show you.

This unit just keeps showing more uses.
It is ideal for camping, with Wifi Youtube and hard drive (tested with 1Tb) play back too.
A plug in DVB-T stick antenna and it is a hand held TV and you can still plug in a dish for satellite while camping.

Yes Yes I know new cell phones do all this too.

Today I got my V8 Pro, but I wasn’t able to use Wi-Fi dongle into it.

I am using an AC USB adapter. How can I do to use Wi-Fi option? Is there any compatible dongles that works with V8 Pro Series?

Most GT Media units have a chip set that they work with for the wifi.

One user reports:
This box just Support RT5370 chip

Post from other users.
A dongle with Ralink rt 5370 will work.
The MT7601 chipset is also suitable.

Thank’s for fast reply.

One more question, those dongles only support 2,4Ghz ?

For those interested: I have RTL8188CU. I checked, it does not work.

Hi Tom and Owen,

Do you have any literature about using the Loop Search or Spectrum? How can I use both? What is it for? (What can I analysis those function)?

Loop search is intended for monitoring in the time the same, or different, channel(s). It's possible to change the default TP and choose the interesting one.
The spectrum is useful for seeing - with differen bandwidths, as desidered, all the transmissions in the selected range, to check the individual received power. On the professional instruments it's possible to go into more details, for example modulation and bandwidth of the selected channel. A lot of notices about the spectrum analysis is available on the net.

Thank you my friend. In fact I wonder it has to be something like this (Loop Search), and without knowing that I used to put some TP’s on there. Thanks for you reply!

Spectrum I didn’t have any idea to use it with sattelite search.

I got my MT7601 and it work fine, and it’s better than RT5370 chip that has fixed antenna. This MT7601 has a 360° rotate antena, it’s great

Bu, I got some trouble to play any video on YT app, all of videos freezes when it playing. I don’t’ know why, is something about equipment memory?

That may be your internet provider or the speed of the connection to the finder.
Try on a different wifi modem / provider.

Sorry, off topic, but why is the screen of the GT media V8 max not as clear as the GT media V8 pro?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯...
