V8 Finder V-73HD - Establishing a user defined region

Post by Silverboy »

Hello,

I have used the V8 Finder V-73D for some antenna installations now. Normally I use the V8 Finder for setup for receiving Thor (0.8W), Hotbird (13.0E), Astra 1 (19.2E) and Astra 2 (28.2E), or Thor with in combination with one or more of the other three satellites (always a combination of two of the predefined regions). In order to avoid having to switch regions several times during the setup process of antenna, it is desirable to be able to save my favourite satellites under a new user defined region. This may be achievable If the custom region first is established, and then having the opportunity to copy the desired satellites to this new region. The setup for each satellite should also be stored (i.e. DiSEqC setup and choices in the TP-list).

As an alternative, it should be possible to move satellites from one predefined region to another (I have tried the Add function, this is experienced to be a cumbersome prosess, with a lot of manual entries to be made. In my opinion this is not to be used).

For both alternatives, this alteration of regions must be stored to enable reuse at the next installation process, it will enhance the user experience and in addition save a lot of time each time the V8 Finder is used.

You can use the "ADD" menu to add any extra satellite you need on to one list and keep using that list.
After a ADD just do a blind scan to load all the TP's.
You could also use the PC based editor and set up the satellites you need there.

Please create a User Preset DB function in USB Backup. So that you can save the satellite database in the Satellite Region.

Is your finder still running so you can access the menus?

If so use the USB upgrade menu.
Unpack the software from the .zip or .rar folder and copy the .bin file on to a USB stick.

Please create a "User Preset DB" database function in USB Backup. Since the satellite database is not edited in the release of new software. You could edit it yourself. When you change the region, all edits fly to the factory.
