GTMedia_V8 Finder_Meter - short circuit protection

Hi Dear members,

Last time while I was using my GTMedia_V8 Finder_Meter, suddenly I received a short-circuit protection message. From that moment, the values it indicates are always the same: signal at 4% and power at 30%. And that happens without connecting and connecting it to the LNB. They remain fixed and do not vary. I have tried 3 different LNBs and different cables too. And I have updated the firmware to the latest version. I have done several factory reset, but not fixed.

Then I opened the device and found one component marked with 1MQ2 burnt. Since it is blown I can't identify the component label. So, please can you help me with what component I can replace the 1MQ2 ?
Also, is that can be the reason for short-circuit protection message?

Thank you so much for your support.

There are some of my pics here.
This post looks to be the same fault as you have.

The short report will be that the power supply for the LNB is now faulty due to that component.
The area marked in white is the LNB power supply.

I will have to open my unit and photo closer if you can not see in that pic.

Dear Feralkiwi,

Thank you for your reply. Which is the area marked in white is?
I can't see the label of those transistors. Can you either tell me the possible replacement for it or tell me the type of transistor it is?

Thank you again!

I have same issue I bought GTMEDIA V8 FINDER online and the machine arrived but not working, it displays short circuit protection and the signal does move at all.

Check if you have the latest software.

They made a change to stop some short circuit messaging.

Here's a pic of the components.
My old Olympus SP-500 camera's super zoom did the job.

I have the latest firmware {June 2021} I opened the finder I saw pnp transistor which supply power to the Turner has burned so replaced it and it worked again (I'm an Engineer)
Thank youπŸ™

My other question is that why V8 Finder has S2X multistream but it does not open multistream channels but only show multistream signal level? Please try to bring software that solve multistream issues

Hi

Good to hear you fixed it, you must have better eyesight than me.

To help user Yof could you post here what transistor type and number etc you replaced with so Yof can make repairs?

I replaced it with positive transistor, positive 12 volts come to one leg and need to distribute to other 2 legs. If you find it difficult to get any positive transistor ( eg: C / D transistor), just connect all the 3 legs together with two 10 ohms resistors it will work.

Dear
iamjohnowusu
Thank you for your active engagement. But I can't get to know the type of transistor and the way you connected all three legs together.

Please can you show me the photo of your fixed board, please?

or if you don't mind can you sketch the diagram of your circuit for me, please?

Thank you in advance, again!
