Post by chris_dvb »

Hi there,

Is there any way to import the channel list/ settings from the V8 Turbo to the V8 X?

Greetings,
Chris

You should be be able to do this as follows.
Menu / USB Dump / OK / Move Right to (User DB)/ Move curser to Start / OK. Channel list now on USB.
When done it will look like this v8turbo_db.bin.
Rename the file to v8x_db.bin, insert into the receiver.
Menu / Upgrade / OK / Move Right to (User DB) / Move curser to Start / OK. Channel list should now be on the receiver
Then keep both files on USB, as BACKUP.
Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the V8 Turbo and the V8x? Are they the same chips, or which of the two is better?

That the Turbo has a DTT connection

It all depends on what you require from your receivers.
With both receivers you can view satellites from 42e to 30w, as you know you can view A F N, also you can view the Multistream from 5w, plus
the Abertis channels from 30w, with the keys built within the software of the receiver, there are channels which are decoded in Biss when the keys
are added to the softcam these can be viewed.
With just having these two basic receivers there are a lot of channels that can be viewed.
Check out (flysat), check the maps (footprints) to see what satellites you can get in your area, also check with your local satellite shop (fitter)
to see what size dish you can use in your area (without planning permission), what satellites they can get etc.

Yes, I've noticed that. Okay, so except for the fact that the Turbo also has the terrestrial tuner, they're relatively identical. Thank you.

Hi Den,

That's great. Thank you for the detailed information.
I'm already familiar with satellite reception, as it's been my hobby for years. The only thing I'm not up to date with is these softcam things.
In my youth, I experimented with my Skystar 2 card and various softcams and had a lot of fun. Then, because of my apartment, I wasn't able to enjoy satellite reception for several years.
But now I have that option again.
Okay, sorry for the off-topic.

All the best,
Chris

When you get the chance, have a look/read around the forum, there are a lot of threads about softcams etc.
Use the search box, top right. Is your system a fixed dish with one lnb / or Multi lnb's or motor.
