My freesat V8 super doesnt find the firmware-update-file on the usb-stick?
Hallo,
wanted to update my freesat V8 super receiver with the new firmware from April, 8th 2019.
Formatted the stick FAT32 and copied the downloaded V8_super.bin onto it.
But in the USB Upgrade menu the receiver doesnt find the file on the stick under the allcode choice?
its all grayed out. Cant choose anything.
Upadated my GTMedia nova orange, that all worked fine!?
Could someone give some help on that?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure but it sounds like the V8 Super doesn't like your USB Stick and is refusing to read it, some receivers are picky about the USB device that they will use.
I would try another USB Device (under 10 GB ) if you have one and formatted on Fat 32 as you did before and try it.

Post a picture of the screen when you get a chance

Seems a bit strange, because he can write the firmware dumps on it?
But will give your advices a try have to look for such a small USB stick first
And will post a picture of the update screen.

Re: My freesat V8 super doesnt find the firmware-update-file on the usb-stick?
Nope, its not the stick.
took a 4GB stick, and I could dump the old firmware onto it:
if I choose USB upgrade, the receiver finds the dumped Firmware-bin-file.
If there is only the V8_super.bin downloaded from this site on the stick (in the root directory), it looks like this:
So the stick is ok and the USB dump process is working...
Do you have any other suggestions? Need this update to make SKY Germany work again.
The actual S/W version is 07/07/2018.

There is a folder inside the USB. You need to place the v8_super.bin in the main USB folder

OK my bad, it looks like you tried to install the file you downloaded, you need to use a compression/extraction software like Winzip and (EXRACT) a file inside first and put it on the USB to install it.
The Receiver cannot see the file you downloaded, it can see the file you extract from it.
LOL

I did all right. was only the update in root
the prob was that i tried to update a clone, it says V8S on the sticker on the back but its a xxxxxx model.
renamed the file to flash.bin and force it witch POWER ON and PRESS MENU.
but the fellows at xxxxxxxx] said that you built in a trap in the firmware code that destroys the firmware chip.
and just that happend, know I bricked it...doesnt switch on no more... all black...
thanks for that, guys! Nice work!

Did you keep the old software you dumped from the receiver, if you did, rename it flash.bin and try it, it mite reload it, if you didn't keep the file try one of the older files from 2018.h34di wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 6:46 pmI did all right. was only the update in root

So sorry. Make sure you buy original GT Media next time. Go over there and ask them how to solve your problem. Unfortunately we can't help help in here.h34di wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 6:46 pmI did all right. was only the update in root
