How to observe the unlocked signal with v8 finder2?

Post by xmh0511 »

I have watched a number of videos about the review of v8 finder2 on youtube. I find the progress bar of the signal quality will have a number greater than zero only if the signal can be locked, in other words, only the green signal line will be shown in the progress bar. I wonder how to observe these signal qualities that cannot be locked? How will v8 finder2 indicate such signals? If it can, by which way?

I think this is an urgent bug. We do not know whether we have not aligned the dish to the satellite or just the (weak)signal cannot be locked in the position. We need the information by reflecting it through the signal quality. How long would we wait for the improved firmware?

It would be very helpful if you take a screenshot of the Finder data.

As shown in the following picture
Image

The signal quality progress bar is just empty and the number shown on it is 0%. The number keeps on being 0% until the signal can be locked and suddenly becomes a green bar with a valid number. Specifically, the signal quality bar cannot be linearly increased.

As a contrast
Image

In the same case, another instrument has a valid signal quality number of 10%. And the quality number can increase with the further adjustment of the dish.

Further details can be seen in the videos. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LEDhwW ... sp=sharing

No, I can receive the signal. You should look the complete comparison video, that will show the result that I can lock the signal.

We are improving, you just need to get a C/N >15dB and a MER >11 dB
I put values that you have to achieve with 8PKS 3/4 in the frequency 11262V3000

We can observe the C/N has a number greater than 0db in this situation, the signal quality should have also had a number greater than zero instead of just be 0%. We should associate the signal quality with C/N or MER.

Everything is associated, the C/N, the BER and the MER that indicate the quality of the signal, the percentage % of quality is never taken as a reference to align a satellite dish

We all want the percentage of quality to be meaningful. It is meaningful in almost all detectors of satellite, I think. The number of it makes everything intuitive. It is true that C/N, BER, and MER are also significant.

Hi, I have tested the firmware. First, the display of the signal quality is a large improvement for me, whose effect is what we expect. Now, the quality bar can indicate the signal quality that is lower than the locked one, such as 1%, 15% or so on. It's great. However, during the test of the firmware, I found some issues.

For testing Ku band, when C/N is 5.97 and MER is 5.44, it seems to indicate the lower limit signal quality that the v8 finder2 can detect, as shown in this picture. It might be a feature?

Gives the complete video of testing Ku band, see https://drive.google.com/file/d/128ilKj ... sp=sharing

For testing C band, the above conclusion is a bit different. As shown in the following picture

The signal quality has a value greater than 0%, however, the C/N and MER are instead 0db at the same time. I'm not sure what's the relationship between the signal quality and C/N and MER, how the value of the signal quality results from? The complete video can be seen https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JWmqkz ... sp=sharing

The C/N and MER should be greater than 0db if the signal quality is larger than 0%? I'm not sure, so ask for the interpretation. However, it can arguably say the value of the signal quality is right because the dish indeed nearly aligns with the satellite, I just adjust two parameters with a bit large offsets(roughly 3-5 degrees), they're azimuth and elevation. I don't know why C/N and MER are 0db in this situation.

The other issue is that C/N and MER can have a strange value sometimes. As shown in the following
IMG_20220613_185811.jpeg

What does -3.-7db means? Except for these issues, the improvement of the test firmware is very wonderful for me.

These issues are not uniquely existed in the test firmware, the newest released firmware also has.

In addition, giving the test way of mine. Consider azimuth, elevation, and LNB skew are parameters of aligning dish. In general, we should adjust these parameters to achieve the best signal quality. In my test, I deliberately offset one of these parameters to make the signal quality be as much as low the machine can detect. Then adjust the parameter from the worst to the best state to observe the change in the quality, C/N, and MER.

As far as I know, the newest official version of the firmware that comprises the enhancement to the effect of the display of the quality will be released soon.

Does v8 Finder 2 support playlist iptv like other decoders? If youtube supports it, so should it.
Another thing, what about the latest soft? Can easily upload it to soft from January 2022? What news has it introduced in relation to this from May? Someone tested? Can you then go back to the previous one if it does not suit me?

Is there any difference in these v8 finders between green front and black?

I had tested the newest firmware. The major enhancement is the display of the signal quality. Even though it only detects 1% signal quality it can indicates the number on the progress bar, which make us align dish quicker and simpler. So, it is definitely better than any prior version.

You mean it shows signal and lock from 1 db? For me, I saw the lowest MER value 4.60 dB CN 5.13dB and I had a lock. Can you show a sample video or photo?

I have downloaded and upgrade the latest version 457 (22.06.2022) on 01/10/2022. The changes are actually a plus. The better the visibility of the icons, the better it looks on such a low-resolution LCD. Display ip address correctly, 22khz works. The signal actually qualitatively changes depending on the modulation because it shows different% with the same MER and CN, which surprised me. The lowest MER I was able to read about 2dB the quality of the spread from 50% to 99% shows. Could it be possible to finally fix what was knocked down in the previous version from 2020? Screen blanking also added, I haven't tested it yet, but it probably works. A small disadvantage is that there is no IPTV, that you cannot import channels from the server to watch on it as in the case of a tuner. Maybe you can add it if YT works, etc? What is a difference between v8 finder 2 green and black?
