BT03 - I have a V8 finder, Can't connect to Bluetooth. [Solution]

Post by cayoenrique »

BT03. I have a V8 finder Can't connect to Bluetooth.

Here I will post my testimony on Can't connect to Bluetooth. . Hopefully this info serve to others. But be aware I am new to this GTMedia devices.

1) Spec require a minimum 5V 2A power pack. Quality of LNB and RF cable, the length of RF cable, spliters/disecqc and number of LNBs can increase this minimum!!!
2) Bad quality on Original short USB cable.

Problem 1: Ahaaa, my 1rst problem. My 1rst test at living room fail. I tested on long cable with diseqc and 2 lnbs. My Power pack can produce 3A. But as soon as I connect BT-03 my Power Pack will signal an error and shut itself off!!!
Solution: Change original USB Cable for a more powerful cable and problem was gone. No more complains from my power pack.

3) Not all Bluetooth are the same. Depending on Hardware and Software the Bluetooth will behave different. The point here is that be aware that you can find a Cellphone that work with a device but not work with other Cellphones!
4) Due to security concern Google had made changes with each Android Version “ Bluetooth Stack”. So each Android version behave different. In general old devices that pair fine in old Android, will no longer Pair on new Android Version.

Problem #2 None of my Cellphones can Pair the Cellphone with the BT03 using Android Bluetooth Manager Settings>NetworkConnections>Bluetooth> Scan & Pair
Solution: NONE that I found. I have a feeling that BT-03 is a very old version of Bluetooth. And possibly is a PINless Bluetooth device. So most likely Google flag our device as unsecured. But this is just pure speculation. I did try Android 4.3 – 10.

5) Videos of bad connections

Problem #3: Bluetooth connection problem and no Satellite signal
The videos are just samples. My problem was different
1rst I test with the latest V8 Finder com.winsat.v8finderbt03 I found v9.1.230926. But I Install and tested many version without initial luck.
Solution: As I was indoor when V8 Finder started I rejected/disable V8 Finder to find GPS Location. Well guess what. It seems this is a BUG in the program. If you do not allow app to get GPS Location, then the app will not connect/pair with BT-03. HE HE HE HE…..

NOTE: Be aware that I suspect same connection problem can be seen with BT-05

ONE LAST testimony. Last Problem #3 does not show on very old Android 4.3. But to use old Android 4.3 you need: V8 Finder 8.4 Aug 2, 2020.

To resume, my Bluetooth connection problem and no Satellite signal was provoke by Bug in V8 Finder , If we do not allow GPS Location to start then Bluetooth will not pair. Once you get Bluetooth Connection you can just disable GPS Location if you want. I mean once Bluetooth stared it does not matter if GPS Location is on or not.

Hope this help others. I waist 2 days finding this simple bug solution.

Now I still want to know if anyone have any Idea how to force a FIX GPS Location for my Home. Unless God decided different, I do not think my House will move from where it is now. ;)
Yes, I do not want GPS to be on. I prefer like a Configure File where I can place my Lat Lon coordinates.

That GPS permission bug is such a sneaky one, and it totally makes sense now why the BT-03 wouldn’t pair. I had similar issues and never thought to check location settings. As for setting a fixed GPS location, maybe someone’s figured out a workaround using a mock location app or config file. Would love to hear if anyone’s managed to get that working!
