GTmedia V8 finder Pro 2 always shows a signal quality of "97" or "0"
I never paid attention to this before, but I suddenly noticed it and now I have some questions. The GT Media Finder V8 Pro2 always shows a signal quality of "97". Or "0". Depending on the situation. According to video reviews, on other GT Media devices (and on devices from other manufacturers), this value constantly changes. And that seems more correct to me! And I think I read somewhere that on earlier firmware versions of the GT Media Finder V8 Pro2, everything was also fine – the value constantly changed. That's why I have these questions:
1. Does everyone have a signal quality of "97" that doesn't change?
2. Was it different on earlier firmware versions?
3. How can this be fixed now?
4. Is it possible to downgrade the firmware without problems?
Thank you.

I don't understand, does everyone else's signal quality show the same as mine? Or has this issue been discussed somewhere before? In that case, please provide a link. Or, if anyone knows what the problem is, please answer!

I do not have that model.
The other models I do have do not do this.
I may be that your dish has very good reception on all channels and the quality is that level.
you can change down software versions using the forced recovery method.

Is this the only way to downgrade firmware? Or is it possible to downgrade it using the standard firmware method?

From the menus it will not allow down grading.

I'd only consider downgrading my device's firmware in one case: if the signal quality display is more accurate on an earlier firmware version. That is, the signal quality display will dynamically change depending on the signal, and not just show two values—0 or 97!

Re: GTmedia V8 finder Pro 2 always shows a signal quality of "97" or "0"
Quality is determined by the MER, power by the PWR, and the S/Q percentage is only a relative value.

Re: GTmedia V8 finder Pro 2 always shows a signal quality of "97" or "0"
Let me repeat: yes, quality is a relative value, and yes, it should constantly change depending on the quality of the signal itself. It shouldn't have just two values – 0 and 97! No other device from this or any other manufacturer has this!
In reality, The values and constantly MER and PWR change during signal testing, but the signal quality percentage only changes by two values: 0 and 97. This is a firmware bug, and I want to understand whether this bug existed in earlier firmware versions of this device. Because, for example, the GTmedia V8 Finder doesn't have this!

You should always use the latest version; a bug in the quality bar in a Finder isn't important because it's useless for aligning an antenna.

Hello,
I just did some adjustments. When adjusting the antenna, the quality is variable, it's not just 0 or 97%. With a strong signal, it stays at 97% without changing.

This is my software version. I wouldn't risk updating it unless absolutely necessary. What I have noticed is the low sensitivity of the DVB-T tuner. There is a topic where this fact is stubbornly denied.

The sensitivity in DVB-S is -80 dBm to -20 dBm, a range higher than the technical parameters you should achieve.

Re: GTmedia V8 finder Pro 2 always shows a signal quality of "97" or "0"
First, you need to specify which version you currently have installed.
No, it's not always 97%(I have a version 377), but it seems to be right mitko 20050

Yes, setting up T2 with this device is useless. It's also unclear whether the problem can be solved with software, or whether it's a hardware issue.mitko 20050 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 31, 2025 12:58 pmWhat I have noticed is the low sensitivity of the DVB-T tuner. There's also the problem with T2-MI (Astra 3B/3C 23.5°e 12285 V 30000 2/3). At least that problem could have been solved. After all, they wrote about this a long time ago.

Re: GTmedia V8 finder Pro 2 always shows a signal quality of "97" or "0"
I do not know what it depends on the signal strength or not. But on my Express-80, the quality always shows 97%. But it changes on Hot Bird 13. The software was installed last (10/12/2025).Nike wrote: ↑Sun Dec 28, 2025 7:01 pmAstra 4A.jpgI never paid attention to this before, but I suddenly noticed it and now I have some questions. Re: GTmedia V8 finder Pro 2 always shows a signal quality of "97" or "0"
The important thing is to look at the spectrum.
You have poor intensity; the system improves the quality.
In a finder you have to check the PWR, the most important things are the MER, CNR, Ber and the power at the tap you will find in the spectrum which must be within regulations
