GT Media V8 Max Finder (Editing Software)

I just bought a V8Finder Max and downloaded Both the AliEditor ver.1.2 and the DB Editor Tool ver.2.1 and neither one will work for me.
AliEditor wants: (.udf, .ddf, .abs,.ddd, .sdx, .txt). but my meter only backs up to (.bin, .dat).
Then under "Template", "GTMediaV8MaxFinderMeter.h", then program says "Save Template ok", I click on Ok then program doesn't show any Satellites.
And DB Editor Using my V8 Finder Max Back up "GTMedia V8FinderMax V4.2.9.459.bin" Doesn't list V8 Finder Max and all other choices don't show anything. Is there any options I'm not doing right, Help.

The dump must be database and you can edit it with DBEditor selecting the V8X model

Tried with all 21 models and none showed any satellites, and 4 (V7 Combo, V7HD, V8HONOR, X8/X8Combo) gave Exception errors when I tried to use them.
Do I have a Bad Finder, Seems OK but I haven't had a dish to hook up yet so I'm not sure?

Try again using the DBEditor

As you can see from the screenshot, DB Editor is what I was using, same version you gave me a link to.AliEditor won't take .bin files at all, so, not sure what you want me to try next.

OK, I give up.
This Finder is not going to let me EDIT the file, I went ahead very Painstakingly deleting satellites I don't need and adding ones I do need by hand. If anyone is looking at buying this meter for customizing satellites, Don't bother.
Remember, You get what you pay for. so, I can't complain about that.
Appreciate you trying to help CAJE but I think this Meter is a lost cause.

Not sure how other Finders work with user data but maybe you can Universalize the way its done to make it Easier for the User, Like .txt based database or .xls or .odf etc...
Just my 2 cents.

The first GT Media finder V71 was based on the old V7HD (2016) software, so had that as its user file format.

The newer units have used other base software, so have other user file formats.

If you place your user file into a .zip folder you can "Attach" it to your post and we can have a look for you.

Tried to Attach .zip file but it says file to large.
Zip file size= 4,013,033kb

Original files:
Timeshift.dat= 4,095,956kb
GTMedia V8FinderMax V4.2.9.459.bin= 8,192kb

That would be the time shift file.

The user exported data file should be around 4-5Mb

I miss the Good Ole Days when you could just call the Manufacturer and talk to Tech support and Usually get your problem fixed in that call. I've been trying to Resolve this POOR design Function since March, 29th. Like I said in Previous Post: "You get what you pay for". I REALLY do appreciate you trying to help OWEN, But GT Media should support their product BETTER, At least they should PRETEND to WANT to Resolve Issues in a Timely fashion.
As you can see from my previous interactions in this thread, I believe the Language barrier is a Big Minus.

Try this
find the menu for export and select user data.
With a USB plugged in export the file.

The user file should then be on the USB stick with todays date.

Watch what is reported on the max, export successful, failed etc.

Exactly the way I got the last 2 backups on my USB. then transferred those 2 files to my Hard Drive.
1) was original Backup.
2) was what I backed up after Manually Deleting and changing all the satellites to my area. (VERY Time Consuming).

I've backed up 'all' and just 'user' data and the only files it generates is:

1) GTMedia V8FinderMax V4.2.9.459.bin (8,192kb)
2) timeshift.dat (4,095,956kb)

Zipped or not, 1 or both files, GTMedia won't let me attach them.

timeshift.dat You can delete it, it's just a temporary file to be able to go back in the broadcast of a television station
Where was all the data you should have changed to database, if you do, all codes will be the firmware with the confirmation you have made, in case you need to recover

When you are in that menu, the top line usually shows what is to be exported / backed up.
If you move there you should be able to change that from all data or main code, to user data.

The file you have is a back up of the software / main code. GTMedia V8FinderMax V4.2.9.459.bin (8,192kb)
The time shift file is a space on the USB that the unit reserves for time shift use.

2) Insert USB, Meter says: "USB Storage Device Connected", "OK", Clicked "OK"
3) In Menu I go to "TOOLS"
4) Options are: A) Information.
B) Factory Setting
C) USB Upgrade
D) USB Backup
E) Record
5) Select "USB Backup"
6) Choices are: A) All Code
B) User DB
C) User DB &System Data
7) Select "User DB"
8) Select Start
9) "Backup Success" "OK"
10) Select "OK"
11) Pull out USB then Insert it into my Laptop.
12) Laptop reads files as: 1) GTMedia V8FinderMax DB SystemData.bin 2) timeshift.dat.
13) Open DB Editor then I go through ALL the steps Previously Discussed and Still Nothing.

Seems I must have a FAULTY Meter.
Should I just RETURN this Meter?

OK

You now have the user data file on your USB
In your past posts you had the main code software file.

1) GTMedia V8FinderMax V4.2.9.459.bin (8,192kb)
2) timeshift.dat (4,095,956kb)

Now you have

1) GTMedia V8FinderMax DB SystemData.bin
2) timeshift.dat.

That file "GTMedia V8FinderMax DB SystemData.bin" is the one you can open with the editor.

GTMedia V8FinderMax V4.2.9.459.bin) is the software like that you can get from the download page to do your software up date. The "All Code" option just outputs the software file, same as you can download.

User DB &System Data, outputs you menu settings, as well as the channel list.

DesertRat5, using the editor (GTMEDIA_V7 V8_DB_EDITOR_20211122), you can edit GTMedia_V8FinderMax_DB and GTMedia_V8FinderMax_DB_SystemData by selecting the configuration option V7S2X or V7S5X in the program.
