V8 Finder 2 channel list

Post by lakromani2 »

Hi

How to add channel to favorite list and how to use it.
In the TV Channel list, I have Fav (grey), Lock(red), Skip(green), Move(yellow) and Edit(blue)
I do not find any button to click to get to the edit.

I would also nice to have a print screen option , so you can save spectrum photos, so you could compare them to make sure you find the correct satellite.

The edit is the blue button and after that you are given three options, delete, edit and sort.

Yes the option for favorite has no button, the software is for a unit that has a remote with a fav button that the finder2 does not have.

The way to add favorites then is to export your user channel list and use the PC editor and add favorites there and reload the user file.

This did not help me much.
Only way it seems to that I can get some out of the meter is USB Backup. It makes a bin file.
There are no way to restore some file, only USB Upgrade.

When I try to use the PC editor, there is an option to select the bin file, but there are no V8 Finder 2 in the menu, only V8 Finder Pro.
It would make this tool so much better if I could have my channels to test from.

Edit button seem to only give me option to rename the channel. If there is not a favorite button on V8 Finder 2, it should not be shown on the screen. It just make user try to find it.

Is there some I do not understand or do wrong?

In the spectrum menu, you should be able to save it as an image, then later load an image to overlay it with what you see to fast see what satellite you are looking at.

Hi,
To open V8 Finder2 data files like GTMedia_V8FINDER2_DB_SystemData.bin, in DBEditor you must choose V7S2X or V7S5X in the configuration box.
Then you can make all the changes you want.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Got it to work, but not very intuitiv.

On DBEditor
1. does not support drag and drop.
2. not easy to see how to add to favorite.
3. favorite list name does not match favorite list on Finder
4. V8 Finder is missing

On V8 Finder
1. Not easy to see how to save and restore the file. Restore DB are under USB Upgrade.
2. Not able to set/unset favorite on the finder.
3. Favorite are found in the bottom of the satellite list

I do love the v8 Finder, but software and firmware can be much better.

A matter of taste... favorites don't interest me while for you they seem very important...

It's a finder, I don't have to watch the channels, I can see them on the TV with a dedicated set top box.

It's enough for me to have the list of all the receivable satellites, I lost a bit of time at the beginning but once I've created it I don't have to edit it continuously... for each satellite I only memorize a few transponders ,which I later tuned directly with finder 2, I don't use the finder as a set top box.

Editor, on the other hand, can be improved, but for the way I use it it's fine.

I do set up a list of favorite with one free channel for every satellite/footprint I like to adjust.
Example 0.8W has 3 satellite that I can reach. Thor 5/6 and Intelsat 10-02. Then I can use 3 channel to make sure all 3 has best signal as possible.
With larger antenna, every tweak helps.

Also for first time setup, spectrum may say that I have hit some satellite, but not sure what. Then a quick pass trough the favorite list over all satellite I can get, gives me a view of what I have found.

I do more or less the same thing, but instead of favorites, I use satellite list directly.
