Step-by-step help to find HOT BIRD 13E with GTMEDIA Finder V8

Post by Richelieu »

Hi everyone,

I'm new to using satellite finders and I need some help locating the HOT BIRD 13E satellite using my GTMEDIA Finder V8.

I would really appreciate a step-by-step guide on how to do it properly with this device. So far, I’m not getting any signal, and I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the settings, the dish alignment, or something else.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

Connected the Finder to the LNB.

Powered it on and selected Satellite > HOT BIRD 13E.

Tried a few TP frequencies from online lists.

Slowly moved the dish but still got 0 signal and 0 quality.

Could someone explain:

Which LNB type/settings I should choose?

What frequency, symbol rate, and polarization are best to lock onto HOT BIRD 13E?

How to use the signal beeper effectively on the Finder V8?

Any tips for dish alignment from scratch?

Thanks a lot for your help!
I’d be very grateful for any advice or screenshots from someone who’s done this before.

Best regards,

Have a look at (Dish Pointer), this site will have the information required in help you find the satellite required.
Put in the satellite required, then you post code, put the (x) to were you want to put your dish, then (Search).
Then a line appears, showing were to point your dish, with other information, skew of lnb, elevation of dish etc.

Hi again everyone,

Thanks for the tip about DishPointer – very helpful!

I now have a more specific question:
How can I add the HOT BIRD 13E satellite manually on the GTMEDIA Finder V8 V2?

When I go to the satellite list, I don't see HOT BIRD 13E listed by default.
Is there a way to manually create or add a satellite, including the correct parameters (position, LNB settings, etc.)?

If anyone has experience with this model and could walk me through the process (or share some screenshots), I’d be super grateful.
Right now, it feels like the device won’t be useful if I can’t even select the right satellite.

Thanks again in advance for any help you can provide!

Best regards,
Krzysztof

If you are just using the finder to get just this one satellite, and that is the only satellite you will be using.
In the finder, the satellite that you require may be under another name.
Check out (kingxxsat)(flysat) for any transponders which have FTA channels on them, that you can receive at your location.
You could use another satellite within the finder, which has the same transponder details, with the information from (dishpointer), carry out a scan,
to see what you get.
The finder is just a tool to find your satellite, which should be connected to your lnb on your dish, which should be connected to a TV, so that you can view on a screen.
I am of the old school, i am luckie, all of my dishes are at a low level, so with a old receiver/portable tv, i can adjust my dish/s when they go out of
adjustment.
I do not have this piece of equipment, but i hope this helps, also use search box top right, there may be some threads, that may help.

Each screen in the menus has the options like "ADD" (green) and "MORE" (blue) along the bottom.

ADD will show after you press blue for "more", as in more options.
