Yes I confirm there is no way to use the favorite function from the finder menu.
You can still use the channel editor GTMEDIA_V7 V8_DB_EDITOR_20211122
I set the model to V7HD (not "V7 HD") as I opened the user file.bin and could change the fav setting in the editor.
It did not offer favorite names, but did set 1, 2, 4, etc.
Just do not use any setting above 16 as there are only 16 Fav options.
You can then select a Fav by pressing OK the blue for sat and move down the list to the fav names.
