You need to use the .bin file after you unpack the .zip folder.

I did updated to V285 before and no issues. So, is not that I don't know how to upload software.

My box is GTmedia x8 and not combo x8. The v286 software is x8 combo. Does x8 and x8 combo uses the same software update.

In just a few words NO, the X8 and X8 Combe are two different receivers.

Hi,
What's the way forward. I complained of two different issues with my newly bought GTmedia x8 box and no value for money. There are other box cheaper than ours without issues.
What's so difficult in fixing software issues with your product. Not third party product but GTmedia. Your after sales is very poor.
Secondly, I complained of my Xtream code not working on your box( GTmedia x8) but working perfectly well on Android phone via iptv smarters app. And none of your after sales technical support have been able to solve my issues.

When you updated your receiver, did you do a back-up of your channel details etc.
If not, you will have to start from srcatch, to get you receiver back to how it was.

I guess the model you have is V8 Golden. If that is so you are using wrong FW

Find attached picture of my box and stop guessing.

Have you tried a complete reset of the receiver, but without putting in your channel list to see what happends.

I bought the X8 specifically for "Golden Interface", and I'm still confused as to why my X8 has the same interface as V8X. The seller even had pictures of "Golden Interface" for advertisements. I posted another thread about this issue, and it's been over a month and no replies. I guess it's a either a secret or mystery, or perhaps both. I contacted the seller, and he told me to update with latest firmware. It didn't fix it. So, it's really a couple of simple questions here. Why does my X8 not have "Golden Interface"? Why are advertisements showing X8 "Golden Interface", when it's not true?

Thank you for your help Delirium. I appreciate it. FW V301 from the link you provided gives me the Golden Interface now. However, the signal meter is reading 85% on all TPs. So, V301 has the signal meter bug that was fixed in FW V302. If I reinstall V302, the signal meter will read properly again, but it will revert back to the Black Interface. Did everyone catch all of that? At least, now I know where to check for Golden Interface firmware updates. Thanks again my friend.

The "Golden Interface" firmware was recently updated, and the signal meter is working properly now for my X8. Thank you GT Media team. The Golden Interface has a very nice look. Golden Interface firmware is available for both X8 and X8 Combo.

I have seen the download site with new Fw date 9/6 December and I have charged the 19.2E SHARE firmware into my X8COMBO . All is well regarding the activation of the two servers for decoding. But the signal meter always indicates 95s 85q . What option have you charged in Your X8 ? Maybe the 30W option?
Moreover, do you think is necessary to activate a VPN in the device or in the LAN ?

Hello, and Happy New Year to you too. You know, I think you are correct about the signal meter. It seems to always show 85% or higher for me too. I guess I jumped the gun on my conclusions. I really like the Golden Interface, so for now, I will leave it. If you want, you can download the Black Interface (same interface as the V8X) in the X8 download section. The signal meter for this firmware (12-14-2021) is working correctly. In case you don't know already the firmware link is below. I have the 30w charged into the STB. 30w or 19E are the satellite database. I use my own DB/System file, and load it back into the receiver. I created my own custom sat list. Thanks.

I run VPN via my router. I think either way makes little difference. For me, running VPN via router makes it easier for all of my devices.
