GTmedia V8 Finder Pro 2 battery
Hello, I have a problem with charging the battery; it won't charge. The device only works when connected to an adapter.

Re: GTmedia V8 Finder Pro 2 battery
My Finder Pro (1) came with a 9 volt charger.
The issue I had was that charger has a Type C USB connector, but is ALWAYS 9V.
I used it on other things and killed them as it was NOT 5V.
If you use a normal 5V charger the battery will not charge, but the finder will run.
For a while I was charging my Finder pro battery in another model finder- meter V73 as it would not changer in the finder pro because I was not using the charger that came with the finder, that 9 Volt Type C plug charger.
When I found how I was killing other USB things I stored away the charger and now can not find it.
B dangerous charger that looks like a type C charger, but is 9V and kills things that only want 5V.
If you have the same charger, put red tape around the plug end so you do not use it on other things.

The charger that came with the device is 9 volts and the battery isn't charging. Could this be due to an update?

Re: GTmedia V8 Finder Pro 2 battery
If you left it un used for some time, like 6-9 months, the battery is now likely dead.
I have found that the GT Media finders use a very small amount of power from their batteries even while powered off.
This will flatten and kill the battery.
I re charge mine every three months.
Watch if you fully discharge the finder.

The problem is that the battery in a device I just bought shows 8.48 volts when I measure it.

The finders do have a function in them that if they get flat batteries, they shut down and will not power on until they are recharged to a certain level.
Maybe your is not seeing that level, even when it is charged.
When you tested the battery voltage level, was it connected to the circuit board?
Is there battery voltage on the circuit board? Is the battery power plug faulty?

The voltage is the same when disconnecting and connecting the battery on the circuit board. It seems to me that there is a problem with some of the resistors, transistors, and capacitors. I am not a maintenance technician.

Upon inspection, there was a short circuit in Hadi. Is this the cause of the problem?

Re: GTmedia V8 Finder Pro 2 battery
quote from google: what is surface mount component "R020"
"R020" indicating a resistance value of 0.02 Ohms (20 milliohms)"
I see in your photo that the pins in "CN11" are no soldered.
What is that connection?
Some components are hand soldered, maybe this one was missed?

Tell me, specifically, finder GTMedia V8 Finder Pro 2, have a integral circuit, discharge controller, which disconnects the li-pol battery when it is discharged to the minimum allowable voltage, approximately 3V per cell??? Finder GTMedia V8 Finder Pro 2 don't need to recharge the finder every three months, do??? Finder GTMedia V8 Finder Pro 2 does it have a discharge controller???

Re: GTmedia V8 Finder Pro 2 battery
I do not have a Pro2 finder, just a Pro 1 and Finder-meters V73, a Finder 2 green, the one with the inadequate small 3.7v battery and older V71 models.
The finder V73 DOES kill it battery as the switch is on the other end of the circuit board and there are many thing still with power on along the circuit board with the switch off, like the voltage sense for recharge.
Yes the Pro 2 may have the circuits you say, I was talking about my experience with the V73 / V71 model.
A simple test of current from the battery while in the power "Off" will show if there is any battery drain on the pro2 model.
Yes if there is battery management on the battery that will disconnect at low voltage, but the battery is still drained to that level while in power off.
I know this as finders that were fully charged, after months will not power on as they have flat batteries.
The V73 low voltage shut down is on the circuit board, because if I have a LNB cable fault or sudden high demand while at lower battery levels, the meter shuts down due to low volts made by too much current demand and can be made to turn on again with just a moment of charger power.
If that shut down was the battery management, it would need a longer charge to get back to battery management power on voltage.
That connector in the picture may be the battery connection and as not fully soldered the circuit board may not be powered as it should.
Also those uncut long component leads may be shorting to something.
